1. PASS: The 15th wave of the survey 'Labour Market and Social Security' (PASS) is now available

The Panel Study 'Labour Market and Social Security' (PASS), which is conducted by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) is a database for research on the labour market, the welfare state, and poverty in Germany. The 15th panel-wave from the year 2021 is now available as a scientific use file.

2. IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees: The fifth wave (2020) of the IAB-BAMF- SOEP Survey of Refugees is now available

The new wave 2020 of the IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees is available now. The working tools have been updated and can be downloaded from our homepage.

3. IAB Establishment Panel: Version 9321 of the IAB Establishment Panel is now available

The new version 9321 of the IAB Establishment Panel (IAB-Betriebspanel) is now available. It includes the survey waves from 1993 to 2021.

Additional BHP modules and AKM establishment fixed effects will be available soon.

4. BHP 7521: New version of Establishment History Panel (BHP 7521) is now available

The Establishment History Panel is a 50 % random sample of all establishments in Germany with at least one employee. The new version covers the time period 1975-2021.

5. GAV-ADIAB: A new data set 'Data Fund of Societal Work Power linked with administrative data of the Institute for Employment Research' (GAV-ADIAB 7519) is now available

The new data set GAV-ADIAB 7519 is now available. It is a linked data product which includes data from the Federal Archive about workers employed in 1989 in the former GDR and their employment biographies after reunification. Furthermore, a sample of workers employed in 1989 in West Germany is integrated for comparison.

6. NEPS-SC3-ADIAB: The National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), Starting Cohort 3 (SC3) survey data linked to administrative data of the IAB (NEPS- SC3-ADIAB) is now available

The survey data of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), Starting Cohort 3 (SC3) survey data are collected on behalf of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) in Bamberg. The new data product 'NEPS- SC3 survey data linked to administrative data of the IAB' (NEPS-SC3-ADIAB) is provided jointly by the LIfBi and the IAB. Data access is provided by the FDZ at the IAB via on-site use and remote data access. The data product covers administrative data from 2012 to 2020 and NEPS data.

7. Planned updates SIAB and SIEED

The FDZ plans to update the Sample of Integrated Labour Market Biographies (SIAB) including the years 2020 and 2021 in the first half of 2023. The Sample of Integrated Employer-Employee Data (SIEED) update will occur one year later in 2024.

8. Graduate Programme (GradAB): Call for Applications 2023

The IAB and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg invite applications for seven doctoral scholarships in labour market research, beginning October 01, 2023. The scholarship offers financial support of 1,350 EUR / month. In addition, most of our GradAB participants work as junior researchers on a 25 % position in one of IAB’s research departments (employment subject to social insurance contributions/ minimum 1,060 EUR /month).

9. Call for Papers: International Workshop on Establishment Panel Analyses (Nuremberg, 20-21 June 2023)

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the IAB Establishment Panel Survey, we invite empirical contributions using the IAB Establishment Panel, its derivatives (LPP/LIAB), or other matched employer-employee data. Deadline for submission of an extended abstract (2-3 pages) to IAB.BB@iab.de is February 15, 2023.

10. The FDZ is closed from 23 December 2022 until 6 January 2023

During Christmas break, on-site access at both the Nuremberg site and at the remote centers will not be available. This also applies to remote execution services. However, the internal use mode of JoSuA will be active. Advisory services will be limited.

11. Reporting employees who left the institution

We want to remind you that with the implementation of the JoSuA use agreements and according to section 6 II of your use agreement, you have a reporting obligation for employees leaving your institution or if you yourself change employers. Please immediately inform the FDZ about the exit of employees from your institution by e-mail.

This reporting obligation is necessary to ensure data security. Users are only allowed to analyze our data with a valid use agreement. If you leave the institution with which the contract was agreed upon, you are no longer allowed to access the data. Nevertheless, it is possible that your new institution signs a use agreement with us so that you can continue working on your projects.
