1. SIAB: New weakly anonymized version of the Sample of Integrated Labour Market Biographies (Stichprobe der Integrierten Arbeitsmarktbiografien) is now available

The SIAB is a 2 percent random sample of individuals in Germany, which have been employed subject to social security, have received benefits according to the German Social Code Book II or III, have been registered as job-seekers at the German Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur fuer Arbeit, BA) or participated in an employment or training measure.

The current version of the SIAB data covers the period 1975 to 2019. It contains the employment histories of 1.940.962 individuals. The SIAB includes characteristics both on individuals and the establishments they work at.

If you want to update your project, please send us an e-mail (iab.fdz@iab.de).

The Scientific Use File version of the SIAB will be released soon. We will inform you in a separate newsletter once this version can be requested.

2. IAB BeCovid: The new data product panel 'Establishments in the Covid-19 Crisis' (IAB BeCovid) is now available

The panel 'Establishments in the Covid-19 Crisis' is a high-frequency representative establishment survey on labour market and human resources issues during the Corona pandemic. A total of 20 individual waves will be collected for the period 08/03/2020 - 12/31/2021. The panel provides a data set designed to trace the rapid evolution of the Covid-19 crisis.

The first nine waves of the panel survey are now available, and cover the period 08/03/2020 - 02/19/2021. Newly collected waves are added at a regular interval.

3. FDZ Methodenreport 02/2021 'Hirings in the IAB Job Vacancy Survey and the administrative data an aggregate comparison' by Nicole Guertzgen and Benjamin Kuefner is now available

In this FDZ method report, the authors compare the number of hirings measured by the IAB-Job Vacancy Survey (IAB-JVS) with the number of hirings calculated from a sample from the Integrated Employment Biographies (IEB). To this end, the authors attempt to identify potential important differences in measurement concepts, by conducting a comparison of the aggregate number and structure of hirings in the IAB-JVS and the IEB.

4. Inclusion of aggregate data in do-files and scripts

The Research Data Centre wants to point to the existing regulation that any inclusion of data in do-files and scripts is strictly prohibited. This does not apply to classifications and conversion tables (e.g., contribution assessment ceilings, DM-Euro translation, GDP deflators, CPIs, transcoding of industry codes, districts or employment agency districts). All aggregate data must be sent as data sets to the FDZ with a detailed description and an indication of the data source. The transmission of data in do-files or other scripts is a violation of Section 6 (4) of the data use agreement and will be sanctioned accordingly.
