1. IAB-BAMF-SOEP-ADIAB: New data set IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees linked to administrative data of the IAB available

The IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees is a representative longitudinal survey conducted jointly by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, the Research Centre on Migration, Integration, and Asylum of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the DIW Berlin. The Survey provides a database allowing gaining new insights about living conditions of individuals who sought protection in Germany in recent years. The linked administrative data set contains both variables with individual characteristics and characteristics of the establishments the respondents work at. The administrative data cover the years 1975-2018.

2. BHP 7519: New version of Establishment History Panel (BHP 7519) is now available

The Establishment History Panel is a 50 % random sample of all establishments in Germany with at least one employee. The new version covers the time period 1975-2019.

3. IAB Establishment Panel: Wave 2019 of the IAB Establishment Panel is now available

The new wave 2019 of the IAB Establishment Panel (IAB-Betriebspanel) is now available.

The working tools have been updated, too. From wave 2016 onwards, the FDZ offers a Stata do-file for combining all waves from 1993 up to the most recent wave to form a panel data set as a new working tool.

4. FDZ Methodenreport 07/2020 'PASS Scales and Instruments Manual' by Bettina Mueller et al. is now available

This manual provides information on the questionnaire modules and scales implemented in waves 1 to 13 of the PASS study. Specifically, it describes the theoretical background and development of each module, the wording of the individual and scale items, as well as item and scale statistics.

5. New On-site Access Points in Poland and Spain

FDZ is excited to announce the opening of three new access points for on-site access to FDZ data! The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland), the Banco de Espaņa in Madrid (Spain) and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain) have agreed to host access points to FDZ data. To make an appointment for on-site access please directly contact the local supervisor.

6. The FDZ is closed from 23 December 2020 until 6 January 2021

During Christmas break, on-site access at both the Nuremberg site and at the remote centers will not be available. This also applies to remote execution services. However, the internal use mode of JoSuA will be active. Advisory services will be limited.

7. Reporting employees who left the institution

We want to remind you that with the implementation of the JoSuA use agreements and according to section 6 II of your use agreement, you have a reporting obligation for employees leaving your institution or if you yourself change employers. Please immediately inform the FDZ about the exit of employees from your institution by e-mail.

This reporting obligation is necessary to ensure data security. Users are only allowed to analyze our data with a valid use agreement. If you leave the institution with which the contract was agreed upon, you are no longer allowed to access the data. Nevertheless, it is possible that your new institution signs a use agreement with us so that you can continue working on your projects.
