1. National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), Starting Cohort 6 (SC6) survey data linked to administrative data of the IAB (NEPS-SC6-ADIAB)

The survey data of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), Starting Cohort 6 (SC6) survey data are collected on behalf of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories e.V. (LIfBi) in Bamberg. The new data product 'NEPS-SC6 survey data linked to administrative data of the IAB' (NEPS-SC6- ADIAB) is provided jointly by the LIfBi and the IAB. Data access is provided by the FDZ at the IAB via on-site use and remote data access.

Further information is available at our website: http://fdz.iab.de/en/FDZ_Individual_Data/NEPS-SC6-ADIAB/IAB_NEPS-SC6-ADIAB7515.aspx

2. PASS: Error Correction unemployment spells in PASS wave 10

At the plausibility check as part of the data processing in wave 10, there were errors in 63 unemployment spells (ALO spells) in wave 10 of the PASS Scientific-Use-Files. In the biographical information (bio_spells) falsely 51 ALO spells were not included and 12 ALO spells from previous waves were not updated. This error also affects the variables PET1000, alakt, alg1abez, PET0920, etakt and statakt in the personal dataset (PENDDDAT). Starting immediately, the Research Data Centre makes to users with a valid contract of wave 1-10 a corrected version available.

3. FDZ Methodenreport 04/2018 'Orbis-ADIAB: From record linkage key to research dataset. Combining commercial company data with administrative employer-employee data' by Manfred Antoni, Katharina Koller, Marie- Christine Laible and Florian Zimmermann is now available

The Methodenreport describes the first steps of creating a research dataset from a company-establishment correspondence table. This correspondence table allows the combination of commercial company data from Bureau van Dijk (BvD) with administrative employment data of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). To combine the research potentials of both data sources, a record linkage of independent companies given in BvD’s database Orbis with their dependent subunits, i.e. establishments given in the Establishment History Panel (BHP), was performed. We describe the major challenges in creating the research dataset from the record linkage key. We then present representativity analyses that examine the selectivity of the resulting linked dataset. The new research dataset contains longitudinal information on companies, their dependent establishments and their employees. This dataset is currently in an internal test phase and cannot yet be accessed by the research community.
